New Zealand Wargaming Events

The following is a list of all the current tournaments and conventions the AWC is aware of. As always please double check with the host club to confirm dates and details.

When is Auckland Anniversary Weekend? Monday closest to 29th January.

When is Easter? 2008: 21-24 March; 2009: 10-13 April; 2010: 02-05 April; 2011: 22-25 April (Easter Monday will also be ANZAC Day in 2011).

When is Queens Birthday Weekend? First Monday in June.

When is Labour Weekend? Fourth Monday in October.

January or February ValleyCon The annual Hutt Valley Convention hosted by the Hutt Valley Wargamers in Upper Hutt.

February BattleCry Annual Auckland convention hosted by America. Date for 2008 is the weekend 09-10 February and presumably at the Freeman's Bay Community Centre again. As usual it includes the Auckland hosted (NZ) 25mm Ancients DBM/DBMM Doubles Competition; as well as FoW, Warhammer, etc.
  Over The Top Warhammer 40K and Fantasy plus Lord Of The Rings tournament hosted by the Hamilton Immortals.
Easter
March/April
NatCon The New Zealand National Convention. The 2008 Convention is being hosted by the Christchurch Cavaliers at the St Albans & Shirley Working Men's Club, Christchurch. Easter dates for NatCon 2008 are 21-24 March.
May/June Braveheart Wellington & Hutt Valley Convention run by Peter Dunn (Wellington) & Allan Yaxley (Hutt Valley).
Queens Birthday
June
NICon The annual North Island Convention held the first weekend of June. NICon 2008 is in Palmerston North hosted by the Manawatu Duellists Society.
SouthCon The annual South Island Convention held the first weekend of June and hosted every year by the Otago Miniature Tactician's Society in Dunedin.
June MAGECon The annual Manawatu Fantasy & RPG Convention in Palmerston North hosted by the Manawatu Duellists Society.
August Call to Arms The annual Wellington Convention held by the Wellington Warlords in Wellington (Often 1st or 2nd Weekend - But confirm date with host Club).
September Push Of Pike The annual Push of Pike renaissance tournament - more details will be on the North Shore Wargaming Club website's Push Of Pike webpage.
NapCon Napoleonic Convention. Organised usually by Hamilton, Tauranga, & Taupo region clubs (among others) when run.
Labour Weekend
October
National Open 25mm Tournament The annual 25mm Convention hosted every year on Labour Weekend by the Taranaki Miniature Warfare Society in New Plymouth (usually the 3rd or 4th Weekend in October - i.e. NZ Labour Weekend).
Conquest Run by Comics Compulsion in Christchurch.
November Campaign & Rally Point Annual Hamilton Napoleonic era and Waikato "Casual Gaming" Convention. The Rallypoint convention was traditionally held the 1st weekend in December but the last couple of years has instead been held in November to coincide with the "Campaign" tournament.
